I thought we've reached an agreement on shipping the goods during October.L : You know there are many factors that might ultimately lead to the miss of the intended sailing. If something unexpected happened, we wilI take the risk of breaking the contract. That' s why we add "or November" to our contract.S : It seems to me that you can definitely make the delivery during October. If something happened unexpectedly, it must be caused by force majeure. That' s not your fault; therefore I hope you could consider rewriting this term.L: Sure, I will think about it.S: Will you make clear to me your responsibility?L: We' 11 see the goods pass over the ship' s rail and our responsibility ends there.S: And all the costs of transportation of the goods go to you, right?L: Yes, we bear all the charges until goods effectively passed the ship' s rail at the port of ship- ment. By the way, the unloading expenses are on the buyer' s account, am I right?S : Yes.L: Then I think you should state this clearly in our contract.S: OK. All right, so far we' ve reached a mutual understanding on everything concerning our re- spective responsibilities. I' m so happy to exchange idea with you on terms of shipment.L: Me too.
