改革开放30年,我国国民经济与社会发展取得了举世瞩目的伟大成就。国富民强,和谐安定催生旅游业的快速发展,我国旅游业从小到大,从弱到强,已经实现了从旅游资源大国向亚洲旅游大国进而向世界旅游大国的历史性跨越,正积极向世界旅游强国的目标迈进。入境旅游快速增长。从1978年至2007年,我国入境旅游接待从180.9 2万人次增加到13187.3 3万人次,增长71.9 倍,年均增幅达15.9 %;过夜旅游人数从72万人次增加到5471.9 8万人次,增长75倍,年均增幅16.1 %,高出同期世界旅游同类指标12个百分点;旅游外汇收入从2.6 3亿美元增加到419.1 9亿美元,增长158.4 倍,年均增幅达到19.1 %,高出同期世界旅游同类指标10个百分点。我国已经成为世界第四大入境旅游接待国。国内旅游持续攀升。1993年至2007年的15年问,我国国内旅游接待从4.1 亿人次增长到16.1 亿人次,年均增速达到10.3 %;国内旅游收入从864亿元增长到7771亿元,年均增幅达到17%。我国已经形成世界上最大的国内旅游市场。出境旅游蓬勃发展。自1997年起,我国在试办港澳游、边境游的基础上,正式开展中国公民自费出境旅游业务。之后,出境旅游目的地的数量逐步增,加,截至2007年底,除香港、澳门两个特别行政区外,已有132个国家成为我国公民出境旅游目的地。中国公民出境旅游人数增速迅猛,2007年已达到4095.4 万人次,是2000年的3.9 倍,其中因私出境旅游人数达到3492.4 万人次,已占到出境总人数的85%。我国已经成为亚洲最大的出境旅游客源国。
改革开放以来,中国旅游业发展迅猛,急需具有扎实的英语基本功和良好口语表达能力的涉外型旅游人才。为了加速应用型旅游外语人才的培养,提升我国涉外旅游服务与管理的质量,特编写《旅游情景英语》教材。 本教材在注重实用性和学生主体性的同时,通过灵活的体例设置,充分仲现轻松活泼的特点。教材内容由三部分18个单元组成。第一部分为日常习惯用语,目的在于让学生掌握日常英语交际最基本的句型和用语,做到熟练运用,同时还要对英语国家的文化和习俗有所了解。第二部分为饭店英语,重点在于饭店业的服务用语及服务程序,紧密联系服务岗位的实际操作,内容包括前厅、房务部、餐饮服务、康乐服务和其他服务等。第三部分为导游英语部分,把情景对话和旅游景点介绍结合起来,突出交际能力的培养,全面介绍涉外导游工作的程序,包括机场迎客,行程安排,登记人住,结帐退房,处理突发事件和投诉等,同时穿插景点介绍。
