听不是一种消极地接受信息的活动，而是根据自己所具有的语言知识，通过听，从音流中获得信息的一种积极的活动。听力是一种迅速正确地辩音解意、理解语义，并对听到的信息做出反应的能力。
听力训练要由浅入深，由简单到复杂。听力训练材料选得太难会大大减退听的兴趣与欲望，而选太容易的则不能达到提高学生听力水平的目的。因此要尽量选用生动有趣的、与学习和生活密切相关的素材，由浅入深、由易到难，就能体验到听的乐趣。
