蒙田是与培根、莎士比亚齐名的世界文豪，他的随笔素有“生活的哲学”的美誉。随笔这一文体在西方由蒙田开山奠基，受其影响的作家举不胜举，在哲学家中就有帕斯卡、笛卡儿、伏尔泰、狄德罗、卢梭等，甚是还有英国不朽的剧作家莎士比亚。 自青年时代起，蒙田即在波尔多祖居的城堡中精读普鲁塔克、塞内加、塔西陀等古代大家之作，此后虽名动天下，博得法王亨利四世的数度造访，仍孜孜不倦地以读书、思考为乐事。蒙田是剖析各民族文化、风俗的饱学之士，是人类情感的冷峻的研究者，文笔清丽、简朴，思致隽永，读者不禁深深陶醉于含英咀华的无上乐境。季羡林先生曾用“零金碎玉”四字评点蒙田于字里行间向世人昭示的人生真谛。 《蒙田随笔集》是其代表作。 此由全国百佳出版社出版的《蒙田随笔集》为英文版。
蒙田(1533-1592)，16世纪法国思想家、散文家。出身于新贵族家庭，曾做过15年文官，并游历过意大利、瑞士等地，后来相当长时间闭户读书。他把旅途见闻、日常感想等记录下来，集成《随笔集》2卷，晚年修订为3卷。蒙田把渊博的知识和丰富的个人经验结合起来，形成了《随笔集》独特的思想意境和艺术风格。书中的思想是趋于中庸的，他对当时的迷信、偏见、巫术等进行否定，认为绝对的真理无法认识，只能探索部分的寻常真理。他在政治上又是保守的，尊重现存社会和秩序。《随笔集》行文旁征博引，语言平易流畅，对同时代的英国作家莎士比亚及17、18世纪的法国文学都有深远的影响。

《蒙田随笔集（英文版）》是16世纪法国文艺复兴后期著名的人文主义学者蒙田的代表作。作品内容包罗万象，融书本知识和生活经验于一体，是16世纪各种知识的总汇，有“生活的哲学”之称。蒙田以智者的眼光，在作品中考察大千世界的众生相，反思探索人与人生，肯定人的价值和欲望，批判教会和封建制度，主张打破古典权威，充满了人性自由、科学知识的人文思想。

儿子英文一直不是太好，兴致也不是很高，一直有买英文小读物给他看，但一直是简单的小故事之类。这次尝试的买了蒙田随笔，我先看了看，虽然本人英文也不咋样，但是拿起来看的感觉还是很不错，偶尔查查字典也不错的，希望儿子能喜欢，也希望他能喜欢上纯英文的读物。
蒙田！真心不是盖的！
质优实惠。不必多说。 不必纠结于“为什么法国能出那么多优秀的思想家、文豪”这个问题。 专注于读某个人的随笔，比如说此书，然后你不吝惜地用铅笔甚至是黑色水笔在空白处上速成“头脑风暴”——即你听说过的做笔记。如此一来，你也可以很可能成为你一个人的随笔作者。这是你首先要做的一件事。被感染，多读，才能多写。笔者碰到的生词就是在反复咀嚼、头脑风暴、内化原著思想之后，渐渐体会到、记忆到的。
很好的书，终于见到英文版的了，一直都想收藏。书里居然还有收藏卡，赚到了
大致翻了翻，感觉还是挺深奥的，，应该对自己各方面都有帮助~~ 值得拥有的书哦~
