蒙田是与培根、莎士比亚齐名的世界文豪,他的随笔素有“生活的哲学”的美誉。随笔这一文体在西方由蒙田开山奠基,受其影响的作家举不胜举,在哲学家中就有帕斯卡、笛卡儿、伏尔泰、狄德罗、卢梭等,甚是还有英国不朽的剧作家莎士比亚。 自青年时代起,蒙田即在波尔多祖居的城堡中精读普鲁塔克、塞内加、塔西陀等古代大家之作,此后虽名动天下,博得法王亨利四世的数度造访,仍孜孜不倦地以读书、思考为乐事。蒙田是剖析各民族文化、风俗的饱学之士,是人类情感的冷峻的研究者,文笔清丽、简朴,思致隽永,读者不禁深深陶醉于含英咀华的无上乐境。季羡林先生曾用“零金碎玉”四字评点蒙田于字里行间向世人昭示的人生真谛。 《蒙田随笔集》是其代表作。 此由全国百佳出版社出版的《蒙田随笔集》为英文版。

作者简介

蒙田(1533-1592),16世纪法国思想家、散文家。出身于新贵族家庭,曾做过15年文官,并游历过意大利、瑞士等地,后来相当长时间闭户读书。他把旅途见闻、日常感想等记录下来,集成《随笔集》2卷,晚年修订为3卷。蒙田把渊博的知识和丰富的个人经验结合起来,形成了《随笔集》独特的思想意境和艺术风格。书中的思想是趋于中庸的,他对当时的迷信、偏见、巫术等进行否定,认为绝对的真理无法认识,只能探索部分的寻常真理。他在政治上又是保守的,尊重现存社会和秩序。《随笔集》行文旁征博引,语言平易流畅,对同时代的英国作家莎士比亚及17、18世纪的法国文学都有深远的影响。

  Heseems to have had a right and true apprehensionof the power of custom, who first invented the story of acountrywoman who, having accustomed herself to play withand carry, a young calf in her arms, and daily continuing to doso as it grew up, obtained this by custom, that, when grown tobe a great ox, she was still able to bear it. Forl in truth, custom isa violent and treacherous schoolmistress. She, .by little and little,slyly and unperceived, slips in the foot of her authority, buthaving by this gentle and humble beginning, with the benefit ~of time, fixed and established it, she then'unmasks a furiousand tyrannic countenance, against which we hav.e no more thecourage or the power so much as to lift up our eyes. We see her,at every turn, forcing and violating the rules of nature: "Ususefficacissimus rerurn omnium magister." 儿子英文一直不是太好,兴致也不是很高,一直有买英文小读物给他看,但一直是简单的小故事之类。这次尝试的买了蒙田随笔,我先看了看,虽然本人英文也不咋样,但是拿起来看的感觉还是很不错,偶尔查查字典也不错的,希望儿子能喜欢,也希望他能喜欢上纯英文的读物。


蒙田!真心不是盖的!


质优实惠。不必多说。 不必纠结于“为什么法国能出那么多优秀的思想家、文豪”这个问题。 专注于读某个人的随笔,比如说此书,然后你不吝惜地用铅笔甚至是黑色水笔在空白处上速成“头脑风暴”——即你听说过的做笔记。如此一来,你也可以很可能成为你一个人的随笔作者。这是你首先要做的一件事。被感染,多读,才能多写。笔者碰到的生词就是在反复咀嚼、头脑风暴、内化原著思想之后,渐渐体会到、记忆到的。


很好的书,终于见到英文版的了,一直都想收藏。书里居然还有收藏卡,赚到了


大致翻了翻,感觉还是挺深奥的,,应该对自己各方面都有帮助~~ 值得拥有的书哦~
