威廉·戈尔丁是当代英国文坛的重量级小说家，1983年诺贝尔文学奖得主，以成名作《蝇王》为读者大众所熟知。戈尔丁对人性的冷峻解析几乎成为其个人风格的标志。然而，从小说《金字塔》开始，作家的笔触中出现了明显的喜剧转向，其后的每一部重要作品都体现出不向的喜剧模式。《戈尔丁后期小说的喜剧模式》从喜剧模式的角度研究了戈尔丁后期的四部重要小说，《金字塔》、《黑暗昭昭》、《纸人》和《世界的尽头》三部曲，并对作家的艺术手法和主题内容进行了深入的阐释。
