《高中英语阅读》是《英语》（新标准）系列教材的配套出版物，供老师开展课上阅读教学或指导学生进行课外自主阅读使用。 本教材是依据国家《英语课程标准》对高中英语学习提出的目标和要求编写的，总的指导思想是使学生通过一定的阅读实践活动，进一步巩固课上所学，扩大知识面，系统训练和提高学生的阅读理解能力，帮助学生提高实际运用语言的能力。 本教材每册有6个模块，每个模块有3个单元，每个单元有1篇文章。文章长度为300-450词不等，基本沿用《英语》（新标准）高中教材对应模块的主题。在上述总的编写思想指导下，本教材具有以下特色： 一、注重培养学生通过阅读获取信息的能力。到了高中阶段，学生具备了一定的语言基础和词汇量，语言学习不再只是语言形式的学习，而是知识和信息的获取，以满足学生智力和情感发展的需求。因此，本教材在内容安排上特别考虑到这一点。 二、突出培养和提高学生的阅读技能。高效率的阅读者和低效率的阅读者在使用阅读技能和阅读策略方面有很大差异。正确的阅读技能和有效的阅读策略不是与生俱来的，惟有经过正确的训练才能得到发展和提高。本教程每个单元的主要活动便是围绕如何训练和提高学生阅读技能设计的。 三、注重在阅读中培养和提高学生的创新意识及主动思维意识。阅读不仅是为了获取信息，更重要的是读者通过和作者的交流，亲身体验和感悟作者的世界，并在与其交流过程中使自己的思维和认识得到拓展。在培养和发展学生阅读技能的同时，本教程每个单元有意识地设计了一些问题和活动，通过回答、讨论问题，对内容、任务、事件发表看法，领悟道理等高层次语言活动，培养学生主动参与、主动思维、发展个性、大胆实践的能力。 四、充分吸收先进的阅读和语言学习理论，借鉴任务型学习原则，科学合理地设计教材结构，安排学习内容，注重体现学用结合。 五、坚持以阅读为中心，提倡多种语言技能协同发展。在语言学习阶段，传统观念把阅读视为语言输入的一种方式，将其与听、说、写割裂开来学习与训练；而在实际交际中，语言运用是一个整体概念，是多种技能的有机结合。本教材围绕阅读设计了多种活动和任务，强调学生通过多种感知与体验，在输入的基础上逐渐锻炼输出能力，从而提高综合语言运用能力。 六、阅读材料鲜活多样，题材广泛，语言地道精确，难度适中，练习和任务设计灵活新颖，体现高中学生的兴趣特点、知识水平、认知特点和心理发展水平。 我们希望，这套阅读教材作为主教材的有益补充，能够进一步拓展学生的视野，帮助学生养成良好的阅读习惯，使学生掌握行之有效的学习策略，在文化意识方面得到加强，综合素质得到提高。
