本教材包含12个单元，每个单元由A、B两篇主题相近的文章和相关练习构成，A篇（1000个单词左右）、包括课文、注释、词汇表、练习及文体特征等五部分。其中练习部分包括理解与赏析、词汇填空、英汉互译、完形填空等：B篇(1500个单词左右）为补充阅读、附订阅读理解练习，可供学生课外阅读。
