This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Central and Eastern European Conference on Multi-Agent Systems, CEEMAS 2005, held in Budapest, Hungary in September 2005. The 51 revised full papers and 33 revised short papers presented together with an invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from 113 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on agent communication, interaction protocols, and mechanism; agent models and architectures; agent-oriented software engineering, modeling, and methodologies; coordination, teamwork, social knowledge, and social reasoning; formal methods and logic in MAS; learning and evolution of MAS; personal agents and agent-based user interfaces; planning and scheduling in MAS; scalability, robustness, and performance, self-organizing systems in emergent organizations; trust, reputation, reliability, security, and intrusion detection; and applications.
