近年来，随着经济全球化的浪潮不断高涨，国际交流日益频繁，跨国犯罪也呈不断上升趋势，加强国际警察之间的交流和合作已势在必行。英语作为一种交流工具，已成为高素质的警务工作人员所必备的工具之一。而目前我国警务工作的相关的英语教材却并不多见。为此我院组织编写了《公安英语阅读教程》一书，旨在帮助和提高广大警务工作人员的英语实际应用水平。本书既适用于公安院校的学生，也适用于有一定英语基础的警务工作人员。本书以“让公安机关满意”为目标，从实用角度出发，让学生接触大量与公安专业有关的英语文章，以增加他们的专业词汇量，为他们今后顺利阅读和了解与本专业有关的英语文章、杂志及其他信息资料打下良好的基础。本书题材广泛，既注重常识性和时代性相结合，又关注相关领域内的最新信息和发展动态。
