为了配合现行初中英语教材的教学，培养学生阅读英语的能力，巩固和扩大英语词汇，丰富英语知识，提高运用英语的水平，我们选编了《初中英语愉快阅读》。本书全套两册。本册为下册，供初二、初三使用。 这些训练阅读能力的短文大多选自英美原文，故事居多，也有一些科普短文；内容生动有趣，文字浅显，可读性强。选文深浅程序力求与现行教材同步，对未学过的重要生词或短语等，都逐一作注，以帮助学生理解。 各册有文章80篇，每周学两篇为宜。每篇文章后配有练习一两组，共10题；练习形式，活泼多样。书后附有习题答案。 每篇阅读文章的后面还编有Joke（笑话）、Humour（幽默）、Riddle（谜语）、Cross Talk（相声）、Poem（诗歌）、Tongue Twister（绕口令）等。
