版权页： 插图： 2.2 Low-power observation The esophagus has a typical four-layer structure. Identify the mucosa, submucosa, muscle layer and adventitia. 2.3 High-power observation The mucosa is covered by nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium. The lamina propria consists of delicate connective tissue containing small blood vessels and ducts of esophageal glands. Muscularis mucosa is composed of a layer of longitudinal smooth muscle. The submucosa consists of loose connective tissue. In addition to blood vessels, nerves and nerve plexus, mucous-secreting esophageal glands are present. The muscularis arranged in inner circular and outer longitudinal patterns. Note the types of muscle. According to the morphological types of muscle fibers, it is possible to identify which segment of the esophagus has been taken. The muscle layer is enwrapped by the adventitia of connective tissue. 3. Fundus of the stomach Material: the transverse section of the stomach with HE staining. 3.1 Gross observation The purple-color structure shows the mucosa, and the broad red area is muscular layer. 3.2 Low-power observation Identify the mucosa and muscle layer of the stomach. The lightly stained submucosa is between them. The serosa covers the outer layer of muscle. The muscularis externa is thick and composed of an inner oblique, middle circular and outer longitudinal smooth muscle layer. 3.3 High-power observation Here the key point for observation is mucosa, which is divided into three layers. The surface epithelium is lined by simple columnar epithelium also called surface mucous cells with ovoid,basally-located nuclei. The supranuclear region of surface mucous cells, which is filled with mucous granules in living condition, appears transparent and lightly stained.
