《汉英文化读本》是由吕家林和杨山青主编。
他们选取从先秦到近代的名言警句、著名的诗章和最优秀的散文名篇(
短篇)，也就是比较能够反映中华文化特色又最为通俗较为熟悉的内容。我们的内容由四部分构成，古诗文和名言警句之原文与出处，简明扼要的注释，白话译文，依据白话译文并斟酌原文而来的英语译文。他们的选文尽量选取比较可靠的本子，注释和白话翻译参考过名家和他人的意见，英语翻译参考过名家的译文(都不专门列出，在此表示谢意)，但主要是他们自己的观点，白话译文以忠实于原文为原则，能够直译的就直译并适当兼顾通俗流畅，以便于阅读。诗歌的英语翻译没有按照英语诗歌要求的格律进行翻译，而是翻译为更为通俗易懂的散文。
