现行中学英语教材内容丰富、语言标准，而且高考的阅读题难度并未超出中学教材，但是为什么相当一部分学生得分仍然不高，究其原因，恐怕应归咎于教材的“精”有余而“泛”不足。为此，我们从英美报刊杂志和互联网上选取了两百多篇内容健康、语言生动、形式多样的英语幽默故事，供学生课外阅读之用。文章时代性强，语言是当代英美人的日常用语，可以作为标准教材的辅助材料。绝大多数为原文，个别文章按中国学生的文化背景作了少量修改。我们为每篇文章编制了检测题，学生可以借此进行自我检测。个别文章由于难度较大，我们在后面加上提示。文章由短到长，由易到难，适合初中到高中学生的阅读水平。由于编者水平有限，有错之处，望读者不吝指教。

A man walks into a bar and orders a 12-year-old scotch. The bartender， believing that the customer will not be able to tell the difference， pours him a shot of the cheap 3-year-old house scotch that has been poured into an empty bottle of the good stuff. The man takes a sip and spits the scotch out on the bar and reams the bartender. "This is the cheapest 3-year-old scotch you can buy. I'm not paying for it. Now， give me a good 12-year-old scotch." 书质量不错，好用，好看，帮助大。

真的很不错，适合孩子读
内容丰富，故事精辟，有些还带有阅读理解题目，可以提高英语学习兴趣，边读边理解很有趣味
袖珍版本，适合随身携带。既然是幽默故事，孩子应该比较喜欢的，对阅读有帮助。

好小一本,里面是一段段短文 很短 短文后面还有一两题练习题
方便携带，但文化背景不一，有些笑不出，正常。权当简易读物。
